While I like to use "green" cleaners, a lot of the current supplies under my sink are things that I have bought on sale (or free) with coupons or just random cleaners that I have picked up here and there. That's my messy under-sink area over there at the right. Not to mention the fact that it's a jumble of things that I may or not use any more, there are some pretty harsh chemicals included that should make their way OUT of the kitchen!
In honor of Earth Month, I recently got to try natural and nontoxic cleaning choices called Get Clean®. This line from Shaklee includes everything you need to clean your house WITHOUT any of the harsh chemicals I listed above. It includes household cleaning products, dish wash both for by hand and in the dishwasher, laundry products, as well as cleaning accessories like microfiber cleaning cloths.
Not only have these products been endorsed for their safety by Healthy Child Healthy World, they have these benefits as well:
- No harmful fumes or hazardous chemicals.
- Outperforms 20 national leading brands.
- You would spend $3400 for ready to use cleaners to get the same amount of clean found in the Get Clean Starter Kit!*
- Features Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate - just 1/4 tsp. makes 16oz. of all-purpose cleaner for only 3 cents.
- And when you purchase the Get Clean Starter Kit you also make a positive impact on the planet
- --Keep 108 pounds of packaging waste from landfills.
- --Eliminate 248 pounds of greenhouse gas.
One of my favorite things about these products is that they are concentrated. There are a few reasons I like this. The first, of course, is that it makes them very inexpensive! (More on that later.) It also keeps a LOT of plastic packaging out of landfills or reduces the resources that have to be put in to recycling plastic bottles. And just as a convenience factor, there is a lot less room taken up in your house!
My favorite of all the products is the Basic H2® Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate. What is very cool about it is that you can use this same concentrate to make all-purpose cleaning solution, window and mirror cleaner, or a degreaser. All you do is vary the amount of concentrate that you mix with water. That picture over on the left is the set of three spray bottles I received with the concentrate. Mixing it up just takes a few seconds - fill the bottle with water, add the appropriate measured amount of concentrate and you're ready to go.
The area under my kitchen sink has experienced a great transformation. Not only is it safer with the new products, it is also more organized! It's also easier to navigate because I don't have to worry about grabbing a super harsh chemical when I am cleaning an area that comes into close contact with food. All of the cleaners are now safe!

I've got a ton of products with things you listed on them. I have a bin to dispose of the worst of them once the disposal day comes for things like that. Makes me sick to think that some of them are rather harmful to my 4 cats, and my roommate's bunny... I'm sure a few of them don't help my hubby's sleep apnea either.
ReplyDeleteTime to go green i think, never really realized how bad things are until you start reading the labels i guess

But I wonder what the safe cleaning products are like- but cannot afford to try them as I am on a strict budget.
