We have always been fans of JENGA. The classic version has long been a game closet staple and the new versions that Hasbro introduces always add a little something new. The newest, JENGA Boom adds a whole explosion of fun. The explosion is coutesy of the ticking-time-bomb-exploding platform underneath the tower of blocks. Now you not only have to be careful about removing blocks from the tower without knocking it over, you also have to hurry to do so before the platform blows and the whole tower goes scattering all over the table.
We had a lot of fun playing JENGA boom. One of my favorite things right out of the box is that the detonator doesn't require batteries (bonus!) Another great things is that the timer aspect eliminates the waiting around that can happen in a regular game when people take FOREVER to take their turn. They have to keep on their toes and make their move quickly. The game moves fast!
The game is designed for 6 years and up, but even almost-5-year-old Little R enjoyed it. Actually he mostly enjoyed playing the the detonator. He likes building towers and letting the detonator purposely run out to see the bricks fly and also putting little toys on the detonator to see the reaction of each. It's always nice to have toys that are fun beyond their intended purpose!
